MESSAGE once a month
June, 2003
I found a young plant of Jacaranda at a flower shop in Tokyo and could not help buying it. (Bignoniaceae : native to tropical America)
The first time I saw the flower was fifteen years ago in Pretoria in South America. There were the blooming trees lining streets as if the whole town dyed purple. I recollect that I was shocked at the beauty of the flower, it was like "purple color Japanese cherry blossom" to me.
After that I often saw them at various places in South America, especially the magnificent scene of the horizon hazy in purple, which I saw traveling by bus, was breathtaking.
They were blooming beautifully like cherry blossoms along a pure river in Bhutan and I saw them in Israel and California as well. I wonder if they grow in Nara, but anyway I will work on it and want to try to show you full-bloomed purple Jacaranda.
My children ask me "You've gone through tough time, haven't you?" ,and I say "not at all."
I have been living my life like on vacation, enjoying everyday every moment.
Worthwhile good things take time and effort
